About this Program

This program allows exceptionally successful students to earn both a bachelor's and master's degree in computer science. Up to 12 credits of graduate coursework may be counted toward both their undergraduate and master's degrees in computer science. Students must earn a minimum of 150 credit hours (120 for the undergraduate degree and 31 for the graduate degree).

Program Highlights

  • Obtain two highly-marketable degrees in five years. Average of $20,000 increase in starting salary for MS vs. BS graduates

  • Count up to 12 graduate-level credit hours towards both the BSCS & MS degrees. After completing the BSCS, only 19 graduate credit hours remain for the MS, which can be completed in one academic year

  • GRE requirement for MS admission is waived for students successfully participating in the Linked Program

  • During your 5th year (after completing the BSCS), you are eligible for a Graduate Assistantship (Teaching or Research) which includes a stipend each semester & a partial tuition waiver (up to 100% for Virginia residents)

  • Courses for both programs are available in on-campus and online formats

Requirements

What are the requirements to apply for Computer Science at ±¬ÁϹÏ?
Students entering the B.S.C.S. & M.S. program in Computer Science should meet the minimum university admission requirements Undergraduate Admission.
  • Have completed at least 60 undergraduate credit hours (at least 24 credit hours from ±¬ÁϹÏ)

  • Have completed CS 361, CS 381, MATH 212, and all associated prerequisites for those courses.

  • Hold an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and a GPA of 3.0 or higher in CS and MATH courses.

  • Complete an  in coordination with the CDA and GPD.

  • Students in the Linked Program must apply for admission to the MS program to start the semester after graduation from the BSCS program. Students must also let the GPD for admissions (csgpd@cs.odu.edu) know that they have applied for the MS Program and are in the Linked Program.
