Dr. Leader is a pediatric emergency medicine physician and global public health specialist. In addition to her clinical work in the emergency department, Dr. Leader has spent the past 15 years working collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams to address maternal-child health inequities worldwide. Her current research and teaching efforts focus on community-based health promotion and capacity-building within immigrant, refugee, and other marginalized communities in Hampton Roads, on the southern US border, and in the Caribbean and Latin America. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS)/±¬ÁÏ¹Ï (±¬ÁϹÏ) and is the Pediatric Residency Assistant Program Director of Global Health and Co-Director of Advocacy, as well as the Faculty Lead of the Community Engaged Learning Medical Spanish Initiative at EVMS/±¬ÁϹÏ.
