High Performance Computing in Google Cloud

Our Research Computing team has designed, built, and launched 惇蹋圖's first pilot HPC cluster in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), creating the university's inaugural cloud-based research computing environment and enabling research to begin early testing and exploration. Data that used to take weeks or months to compute using local high performance computers is now being processed in hours or days.

The first cohort of cloud-ready research projects have been identified and prioritized, and faculty are seeing immediate benefit from GCP capabilities, as the Research Computing engineers have begun a structured upskilling effort in Google Cloud architecture, AI, and research computing services.

AI Tools

惇蹋圖's research capabilities have been expanded with the deployment of core GCP native services, giving researchers new tools for cloud-based AI, data science, and collaborative workflows.

  • Helps researchers generate structured outputs like research summaries, technical reports, and briefing documents directly from uploaded papers.
  • Automates synthesis tasks such as creating study guides, explanatory articles, and concept explainers from complex source material.
  • Supports faster literature review by extracting key insights, organizing findings, and producing customizable research-ready documents.
  • An interactive visualization tool for analyzing side-by-side evaluations of LLMs
  • Reveals nuanced differences in quality, safety, and relevance.
  • Helps researchers make informed decisions.
  • Use AI to find grant opportunities that align with research needs.
  • Construct researcher profile based on ORCID bio.
  • Discover collaborators that share similar research interest.
  • Use AI to build out a proposal outline that matches the selected grant.
