New name, same mission
We are proud to announce that Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) is now Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences Eastern Virginia Medical School at ±¬ÁϹÏ. While our name has changed, our commitment to building a healthier community remains the same. Through our nationally recognized Graduate Medical Education programs, we continue to provide comprehensive, community-based training across multiple hospitals and clinics. This integration with ±¬ÁÏ¹Ï enhances our research and collaboration opportunities, further empowering us to address healthcare disparities and advance medical education.
Build lifelong bonds
Our residents are kind, fun and helpful - the type of people you want to be friends with. Residents enjoy spending time together during rotations, annual resident retreats and end-of-year celebrations.
Where You'll Train
Learn more about our GME programs
Our community-based Graduate Medical Education is one of the nation's few training programs in which all residencies are integrated among a number of hospitals and community clinic settings, instead of one fixed setting such as a university hospital. Our residents work at 14 teaching affiliate hospitals, staffing hospitals 24 hours a day, implementing new treatment methods and conducting research. They see patients from diverse backgrounds and work with community faculty.
See yourself in Hampton Roads
The Hampton Roads region that we serve is a vibrant community with 1.7 million residents scattered across nine cities and five counties in southeastern coastal Virginia.
Miles of waterfront, historical and cultural attractions, parks and outdoor recreation areas, lively nightlife, seasonal festivals and family-friendly entertainment make it clear that there's something for everyone here in Hampton Roads.
We know life happens, and we want you to be covered when it does. That's why we offer competitive benefits packages for our residents and fellows.
A supportive environment
Work-life balance is important during your residency, and we are committed to supporting our residents throughout their time here at our campus. Through Wellness Works program, our residents and fellows receive the same wellness resources as our faculty and staff.
In addition, our Resident Wellness program for residents and fellows gives you access to support groups, after-hours counseling services, running clubs, leadership coaching and more.
